About us

Be a part of the Formula Vee excitement

Formula Vee came to Ireland in the mid 1970’s and was created to provide a low cost form of single-seater racing. Vees can now boast the highest popularity with over 50 members in the Association, and about 20-30 of those regularly competing.

The Formula Vee National Championship consists of races in Ireland (Mondello National and Mondello International) and Northern Ireland (Kirkistown and Bishopscourt). We also run two additional races or championships within a race:

– B Championship: this is for the experienced racer who is not quite winning national races just yet but graduating towards the front of the grid

– C Championship (also known as the Rookie championship): this is for the novice driver who has less than six race finishes to their name

On occasion, we have championship rounds in the UK. Most recently, we visited Anglesey in 2023, and have also visited tracks such as the famous Donington Park, Brands Hatch, Cadwell Park, and more.

For a number of years up to recently, the Formula Vee association ran a non-championship Formula Vee Festival at Mondello Park with heats, semi-finals and a final. The Vee Festival quickly became the largest race meeting of the season with huge crowds and all classes competing to both get on the race card and contribute to the success of raising over €100k for LauraLynn Children’s Hospice and Barretstown.
